Job Description:
Under the direction of the Port Manager, the Vessel Manager is responsible for the coordination of daily operations; confirm appointments, quote services needed and administrative functions associated with individual vessel calls to assigned Port.
Summary of Objectives:
- Responsible for the port of Brunswick, Georgia
- Board vessels in Port on a daily basis
- Process billing with assistance from parent port
- Complete and follow-up on information and PDA requests with assist from parent port
- Respond to all principal/customer inquiries in line with Corporate Operations Manual Policies or Principal Governing Working Instructions
- Prepare/transmit estimates of port costs
- Coordination of vessel movements including communications with terminal, pilots, tugs, line handlers and US Government officials
- Communicate daily with principals/customers, marine vessel's Master, Port Authority, and appropriate government authorities
- Arrangement of vessel services, deliveries and crew matters
- Preparation of documents including both commercial and government requirements
- Ensuring that vessel files are completed in a timely manner including administration and accounting functions
- Procure operation, agency, and administrative services for assigned marine vessels
- Exercise high quality vendor service management and cost control
- Makes required trips to United States department of Homeland Security, Customs and Immigrations to ensure all necessary documentation are ready for arrivals and departures
- Participating in training courses or sessions as provided
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors / Associates Degree preferred
- Must have 5-7 years' experience in Agency Operations with emphasis on Breakbulk / project and car carriers
- In depth knowledge and understanding of Port Agency Work
- The ability to work with-out direct daily supervision
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task
- Strong intrapersonal skills with the ability to work on a team / strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Possess good organization skills and ability to multi-task procedural and project management tasks within short time constraint situations
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Motivated and willing to learn; eager to participate in training and open to advancement within the company
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite including the ability to manage high volumes of emails
- Ability to board vessels, climb ladders and/or stairs
- Comfortable with working long, irregular hours and able to adapt to fluid ship port schedules engaged in 24/7/365 port operations
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license, good driving record and TWIC card a must

- Job involves extensive walking, lifting, climbing, stooping, bending, and jumping.
- Numerous trips to the marine vessel during its time in port to handle any issues relevant to the efficient arrival and discharge of the vessel.
