Driver Class B

Full Time San Jose, CA Safety-Kleen/Clean Harbors

The Class B Driver is responsible for the transportation of hazardous waste via a box truck while adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT), hazardous waste and safety rules and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Ensure proper loading, segregation and unloading of hazardous wastes and non-hazardous wastes.
  • Proper placarding of vehicle to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations.
  • Maintain daily logs, worksheets, timecard, expense reports, dispatch & trip reports and vehicle inspection reports.
  • Comply with all Company policies & procedures, health & safety policies and procedures, Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations, Federal hazardous materials/waste rules and regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with coordinators or managers regarding schedule and demurrage.
  • Maintain a professional appearance (by wearing Company supplied uniforms and ID badges, which are required, per Company policy) and courteous demeanor with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain and clean assigned Company equipment as well as ensure equipment is mechanically sound and in good working order.
  • Keeping your training record up to date with all DOT /OSHA and Company required training.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ years HAZMAT transportation experience preferred
  • Possess Class "B" CDL License with Hazardous Waste Endorsement
  • Attend 40 Hour OSHA training, attend new driver training and specific equipment training.
  • Able to travel and use mobile computer
  • Able to work with little if no direct supervision and an aptitude to complete assigned work
  • Strong mechanical ability
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
  • No DUI/DWI in past 3 years
  • No preventable accidents in the past year
  • No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years
  • No serious moving violations in past 3 years, i.e., Reckless driving, Driving to endanger, Open alcohol containers, etc.
